Melinda relates to this poem because she has a secret that she cant tell anybody, and because she doesn't have many friends. She's afraid to speak out because of how people will think of her. She keeps to herself and doesn't really fit in with the big crowd, like the caged bird.
Hi Colton! This is a really good summary of this poem. I read it long time ago and had forgotten about it. Your summary made me remember it and now I plan to read it again because I enjoyed it when I did read it long ago. Your post is very well written.
